Whitney Houston and Dana Bash

Whitney Elizabeth Houston, born 9 August 1963, to a musically inclined family in Newark New Jersey is the daughter of gospel star Cissy Houston and John Russell Houston Jr. Also, she is the sister of singer Dionne Warwick. In Newark Whitney started singing with the church choir when she was a young child. at the age of 15, she joined her mom in backing vocals in Chaka's smash Im Every Woman from 1978. She went on to provide back vocals to Lou Rawls Jermaine Jackson and her mother, and also was briefly models for the front cover of Seventeen magazine in 1981. Her vocals with the New York-based band Material attracted major record labels which included Arista. The label signed her to Arista in 1983 and spent the remainder of her professional career. In 1985, the debut of Whitney Houston became one of the most successful debut albums of all time. My Love was her debut album. My Love was released in 1985, and quickly became a number one hit. It sold three million copies its first year, and over 25 million worldwide. She won her first six Grammy Awards. The Whitney 1987 release, which included the songs Where Do Broken Hearts and I Wanna Dance With Somebody as hits, helped build upon the successes she'd had. The 1992 film The Bodyguard sealed her spot as one of the most successful musicians of all-time. Although the film and the performances in it weren't widely praised the soundtrack album and her version to the Dolly Parton song I Will Always Love You made charts for albums and singles for a period of time and sold over 44 million copies across the world. Their daughter Bobbi is born the month of March of 1993, a year she got married to Bobby Brown. Around this time when her well-documented drug use began and by 1996 she was a daily user.
